Summary
Digital transformation initiatives are making the environmental assessment process more robust, responsive, repeatable and transparent. A Shared Analytic Framework for the Environment (SAFE) is being developed by The Western Australia Biodiversity Science Institute (WABSI) and the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE). This framework aims to provide a structured way to plan and align the data capabilities required for environmental analysis and assessments.
This project will enable CRC TiME to partner with the SAFE project to further develop and assesses its applicability for dynamic environmental assessments during the life of mine and post closure. The CRC TiME project objectives are to:
- Provide research and support to WABSI for the incorporation of casual pathway thinking in the development of SAFE;
- Undertake/support two case studies using SAFE: Beetaloo Basin, NT and Bowen Basin, Qld;
- Provide support to WASBI in a business case for further SAFE development; and
- Submission of a final report to CRC TiME on the strengths, gaps, and next steps for development of a shared analytics platform for dynamic environmental assessments during the life of mine and post closure.
