Summary

CRC TiME is partnering with enviroMETS QLD to deliver the second stage of the Lighthouse Project to develop a Multi Criteria Business Case methodology for post-mining land use sites. The business case tool will assess and compare forward-thinking land use options to meet the challenges of post-mining landscapes. LHP2 is designed to open opportunities for stakeholders to propose and identify various higher-value land use options post mining. The project will deliver a tool in the form of a business case model that integrates economic, social, environmental, Indigenous, and site characteristics to quantitatively compare PMLU options for sites. It will be developed using case studies for pilot sites in the North-West Minerals Region, the Greater Whitsundays/Bowen Basin, and the Central Highlands, all areas set to experience significant change as mining activities evolve.
